Wallace Shield Race Three 2002
Probably the hardest of the three Wallace Shield races, the Mt. Heslington course was dry and hard for the final race of the series. Numbers were down a bit as a group of juniors who are doing the National Secondary School Cross Country next weekend were doing a pack run. Overall results of the series: COURTNEY STAPLES won the Wallace Trophy for Under 10s, second was Hannah Shepherd. RICHARD HARRIS and DANIEL BOYD tied for the Wallace Shield for Juniors, third was Matthew Russ. Good performances were put in by Shaun Feldwick, Georgina Langford, Darren Wareing, Rebbecca Gilbert, Tessa Dowthwaite and Megan Lowe. NORMAN CARRINGTON was winner of the van Geldermalsen Trophy for seniors with a dead heat for second between Janice Harris and Michael Harte. The walkers' results are still to come. There were 23 people who completed all three races in the series. Fastest times are highlighted in orange.
