These are a handicapped 3 race cross country series. Adults compete for the van Geldermalsen Trophy, U12s to U16s for the Wallace Shield and U10s for Wallace Trophy. Annette Denton has also donated a trophy for walkers.

Handicaps for the first event will be based largely on results from the Block handicap events. At each event, three races are run: 1500 metres for all under ten years, 3000 metres for ten years to under sixteen years, and 5000 metres for Juniors, Seniors, and Veterans.

To win any of the trophies, a runner must compete in all events, and be a financial member of the club. Points are awarded on the basis of finishing position. That is, one point for first,two for second, etc, the runner with the least points winning theappropriate trophy. To avoid penalising runners finishing near the end of the more popular distances, the maximum number of points that can be gained from each event is taken to be the number of finishers in the smaller of the three events. In other words, if there are twenty runners in one race and thirty in the next, all runners finishing behind twentieth place in any race will be awarded twenty points.
