President≠s Report

Greetings members and supporters,

Welcome to all of our new members and welcome back to our faithful runners and walkers.

Thanks for your commitment to the club and your sport. The committee has worked hard to ensure a balanced but varied selection of races for the season. You will have noted that we have indicated on our programme the events that are suitable for children. We are keen to encourage our younger runners.

Already this season we have had a number of successful performances. Congratulations to Paula, Carol, Danielle, Murray, Brian and Tim for their performances in the recent Nelson Half. Ian Trice also performed creditably for a 14th overall placing. Awesome work

I am sure that our members featured in a number of significant placings in the various grades, congratulations one and all.

On the national front the committee has composed a letter to every club and Centre in the country which discusses issues around affiliation fees and   levels of support to club level athletes. Currently the system for fixing fees is based upon Athletics New Zealand's budget which is then apportioned across the Centres based upon last season's membership numbers

Unfortunately as runner numbers have fallen ANZ costs and budget have increased!!

I'm sure you will see the problem with this scenario!! Any change will need to be initiated from the AGM which is in a couple of months time. We intend to keep this discussion alive and we will keep you posted on any developments

Finally if you are new to the club, please make yourself known to us and if you would like support of some kind or coaching advice various members are happy and able to discuss possibilities and provide advice (or at least an opinion!!

Find someone to run with and have a blast!!

Kelvin
